If you're asking these questions, you're in the right place, in this article you'll learn about:

  • What Exosome treatment is and how it works.

  • What results Exosome gives, such as anti-aging and skin repair and regeneration.

  • How long results last.

So keep reading to learn all you need to know about Exosome, and determine if it's right for you!

What is Exosome Skin Treatment?

In a nutshell, exosome is a regenerative medicine treatment. It helps your body, in this case your skin, regenerate to improve it's condition. You can use it for skin or hair, and it works through quite an interesting mechanism. But, we'll come back to this later.

Your cells release tiny particles, called exosomes. They carry proteins, fats, nucleic acids, to help cells to communicate with each other. You can group these as "signaling molecules." They can therefore cause cells to do certain things, depending on the signaling proteins they carry.

This is the idea behind the treatment, to package exosomes with certain proteins and nucleic acids. This makes cells take certain actions, which brings us on to how this treatment works...

How does Exosome Skin Treatment Work?

Like most aesthetics treatments, exosome takes advantage of your body's cellular processes. But, it does so in a slightly different way.

Most treatments cause some kind of damage or inflammation in your skin. The body recognises this damage and inflammation and begins to heal by increasing collagen and elastin production. This increase in collagen and elastin then brings about favourable changes in your skin.

Exosome treatment however, takes this one step further. As we mentioned before, cells communicate with each other using exosomes containing signaling molecules. Researchers package those used in treatments with specific signaling proteins to make cells perform specific functions.

This is the premise behind exosome treatment, simply activating your cells in specific ways.

What Are the Benefits of Exosome Treatment?

Some of the benefits of this treatment are in line with what you would expect with aesthetics. Some, however, are quite special and a little unique:

Skin Healing & Scar Reduction

One of the interesting benefits is improving skin healing, which makes exosome a great combination treatment. Many skin treatments, such as microneedling, induce minor damage to your skin cells. As we mentioned, this is beneficial as your skin begins to recover and boost collagen production.

Exosome treatment is beneficial here as it improves healing in the treated area. It is particularly good when spread on the surface of the skin straight after microneedling treatment. The solution travels deeply through the top layer of the skin via the tiny micro-channels created from needling.

With microneedling you can expect incredible scar reduction, such as acne scar tissue improvement.

Anti-Aging

One of the other benefits is an amazing anti-aging result. Boosted collagen production after treatment works wonders for reducing signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles.

This also has benefits for delaying skin aging, and preventing photo-aging as a result of sun damage. This reduces overall sun damage, which is a significant contributor to signs of aging. Exosome treatment provides almost a "sun-protective" effect, to reduce sun damage.

Pigmentation Reduction

Exosomes are even scientifically proven to reduce pigmentation. They do this by regulating the expression of your genes, and activity of enzymes like Tyrosinase.

Tyrosinase is an enzyme that plays a key role in production of melanin. Melanin is responsible for giving your skin tone. The more you have, the darker your skin tone will be. In cases of pigmentation there is too much melanin in certain areas of your skin.

Exosomes however can reduce Tyrosinase activity and production. This reduces the production of melanin, and helps to brighten and balance skin tone. This makes it a great treatment option for treating skin discolouration, a common side effect of sun damage.

Hair Regeneration

Hair loss can be a difficult thing to deal with, especially if you want to avoid a hair transplant. Exosome however can help with many types of hair loss. It does this by:

  • Promoting new hair growth by pushing hair follicles into the growth phase. This also helps to improve hair thickness and health.

  • Improving blood supply to the scalp by stimulating production of new blood vessels. A better blood supply means a healthier scalp, and a healthier scalp means improved hair growth.

  • Reducing inflammation in the treated area also reduces hair loss.

Wound Healing

Even used in some medical treatment, exosomes are great for wound healing. The various growth factors and signaling molecules help your cells to heal in overdrive. It can be even more than just a cosmetic skin treatment.

How Long do Results Last?

After a few treatments you can expect results to last up to 12 months, with then maintenance sessions roughly every 12 months.

Are There Any Side Effects with Exosomes?

Exosome treatment can come with a few side effects, but nothing out of the ordinary for skin treatments:

  • You may experience redness and swelling. However, this could relate to other treatments used in combination, such as microneedling.

  • You may experience bruising, when having exosome injections such as for hair regeneration. This usually resolves within a day or two.

  • Allergic reactions are always possible with treatment. To minimise risk, you can start with a patch test before going ahead with full treatment.
